I think we are all looking at the 19th as being a step along the way out of the Covid restrictions. The reality is that the virus hasn’t gone away, it has just become more manageable. As such the club will not be removing all previous precautions until such time as it feels it is safe to do so.
So, no matter what restrictions are lifted next week we are asking all members to continue to exercise all the usual precautions such as hand washing, wiping surfaces, keeping a metre or two away from others where possible. We will continue to book 3 firing points at a time leaving space between shooters. This situation will be much eased when we are using the new ranges in August.
Please be aware that some members will still be either very vulnerable themselves or be living in a household with a vulnerable person. So, whether fully jabbed or not, please be respectful of everyone’s space.
That brings me on to the “Opening Event” which I hope you all can attend. I expect you all have that date, the 7th August in your diaries. The exact running order will be posted nearer the time but it will start at 2:30pm and be followed by a buffet, ending about 5:00pm. We are expecting around 100 people to be attending so, if you have not already done so, please let Lindsay know that you will be there and if you are bringing family or friends, how many in your party. This is for catering purposes. Can you also let Lindsay know if you have any specific dietary needs or food allergies so we can cater for all. We will be using as much space as we can to keep people apart and will be using outside space too.
Thank you all for bearing with the disruption caused by the installation of our new sewage system. It has not gone exactly to plan as the soil is so sandy and the hole that was dug ended up being twice as big when the walls collapsed inwards. The existing pipes were not up to standard so had to be replaced. Hence the car park has been like a swamp for the past 10 days. It should be better by next week and you can now use the toilets safe in the knowledge that it all is going into a shiny new tank!
We are in the process of putting in a bid for more funds from Viridor to build a link between the old and new premises and also to surface the car park and the approaches. Thank you to all those who took the trouble to write a letter of support and also get signatures on the support forms from friends and neighbours. If you are yet to send your support then please email your letter to myself or Lindsay, or leave a copy at the club by tomorrow, as the bid needs to be submitted then.
