Dear Fellow Member

I hope you are enjoying your shooting and all that the club can offer.

March is upon us and this generally marks the winding down of the winter season and looking forward to the beginning of the summer season and associated events. It is a good idea to think about what shooting competitions and events you would like to enter, or be entered in, for the summer. If you are unsure as to what you want to shoot or what is available then just contact your captain or captains and they will help you select what is right for you. Chris Burrows runs the Exeter & District Summer League which is perfect for all disciplines and abilities. He will be very happy to have you join in.

We should also be able to use our 50m outdoor range soon which is a whole different experience than shooting indoors. For safety reasons, only full and experienced members can shoot on this range and an induction session will also be necessary so that everyone is fully aware of how to set the range up with correct notices and flags etc.

The Skittles evening we held in February was a great success and raised £160 + for the club. Our thanks to Claire, her helpers and all those that contributed prizes for the raffle. Likewise, the Scorers course went well and we have had great feedback from those that attended. Our thanks to Chris and Andrew for running this and other members who gave up their time to help. There will be another Range Officers course soon and if you have not got that qualification I would strongly urge you to sign up for it when the details come out.

As you will have seen and enjoyed, our new car park has been installed and what a great improvement it is. Our thanks to James Bevan who did the work and Viridor Credits who financed most of it.

The next phase of our building work starts this week with materials being delivered to site. There will be an inevitable degree of disruption to parking and access at times so please be aware. This will give us the much-needed link between the old and new buildings and once again it is part funded by Viridor. You will also be aware that a number of members put a lot of their own time and effort into keeping the premises and grounds in good repair. If you feel you can help with any aspect of this please contact Paul Newberry and he will gladly find jobs to be done for you.

Other things are always happening in the background and our website has been further updated by Ian …. He reports that we get over a thousand hits per month which I think is pretty spectacular. There will be an update to the members only area soon or even before you read this. Log in and have a look.

The roadworks that have been with us for 6 months or so should be coming to an end soon. The plan is that once they have finished and resurfaced the road it will allow access from Tithebarn once again.

If there are any ideas for social events then please contact Claire.

One final plea… If anyone has a wireless laser printer/copier that is surplus to their requirements then the club would be very grateful.

Enjoy your shooting

Best wishes
