There has been a great deal of activity in the club with the induction and training of new members. This has been conducted in a very safe and efficient way by having small groups on a Wednesday evening doing a variety of disciplines. Some have now progressed to probationary members and we welcome them into the club.
I would hope that all existing members can look back and remember that they too had to start the sport and were helped no doubt by members of the club they joined. Helping a new member has multiple benefits for both tutor and pupil, making both think about how and why we do things.
I would encourage any member who has not got a Range Officer’s qualification, or who has a lapsed qualification, to consider doing the course which takes just two or three hours. Because we feel this is so important, the club will pay the fee in recognition that you will be giving your time. The course will be held at our range on Saturday 20th November. Please book in by contacting Andrew Vardon or Lindsay. It is a very interesting and informative course and our very own instructor Chris Burrow will be taking it.
Whilst we are talking about dates, there are some important ones coming up.
Our AGM will be held on Thursday 28th October at 7:00. You will be receiving full details from our secretary soon. In the meantime, we would welcome nominations for officers and committee members. If you would like to put your name forward then please do so to Lindsay. Likewise, if you have any issues you wish to raise, then again let Lindsay know.
There will be a club social evening on Friday 3rd December at the club, all will be welcome and also members of your family too……details will follow.
On Wednesday 15th December we will be holding a Christmas Shoot open to all members….. Again, details will follow.
So please make a note of all those dates and please be aware that the club will be closed for shooting on those evenings.
As we are now entering the winter season our team and individual entries are being compiled by our section captains. Please make yourself known to them if you want to shoot competition this winter. There are competitions for all abilities so don’t hold back.
The committee is aware that, with the growth of the club, and also with the “new” and “old” buildings being separate at the moment, it is causing some problems with procedures particularly for Duty Officers. Shaun will be arranging informative evenings to go over the procedures for those that may be unsure of what goes where etc. Hopefully this is just an interim situation until the next phase of building the link starts, which will depend on finances available.
The reconstruction of our outdoor 50m range has progressed greatly, helped by the dry weather which has allowed the large machinery to work on site without sinking in!! Hopefully it will be back on stream in the next month or so.
