The excitement mounts!……… This coming Saturday (7th Aug) will see the official opening of the new Pinn Brook Ranges. It would be great to see as many members, families and friends at the event as possible. If you have not let Lindsay know whether you can come or not, could you please do so as we will need to know numbers for catering etc.
Just to recap, the event will start at 2:30pm sharp so please arrive from 2:00 onwards. Car parking will be at a premium, so car share where possible and/or be prepared to walk down the lane if we are full. Following the opening by Lord Clifford and the firing of the first shots by our Trustees, Juniors and Air shooters, Lord Clifford will also fire a shot. There will then be a short presentation by James Bevis who will be representing GB at the Paralympics in Tokyo later this month. A buffet afterwards will give everyone a chance to mingle and chat. As there will be visitors from other clubs and organisations, I would ask you to welcome them and show them our facility. I hope you will all feel proud of our new complex and of being a member of a club which is providing the best indoor facilities for our sport in the South of England.
If you have been to the club in the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed we now have a new sewage system installed. This has meant some disruption to the car park surface so please be careful. Also, if conditions are wet the surface is a little muddy. However, we now also have a nice new pathway from the car park to the buildings.
Once we have opened the new facility for club shooting we will be able to change the booking system. Firstly, we will return to having a duty officer every weekday evening from 7-9 p.m. so that booking in will not be necessary. Therefore, we will be formulating a rota so that all members will take a turn at being Duty Officer, responsible for opening up and doing the desk duties. You will still need to book in for shooting at other times during the day so that other members can see when the keys will be signed out and who might be there for security.
We are looking at starting this system from Monday 16th August.
Also, as we are having a large number of new members joining, we will designate Wednesday evenings as a club night and as a training night for new members. It would be good to see as many members as possible attend on a Wednesday night to help and encourage the new members. I find when we start analysing and explaining what we do to a new shooter it makes us reassess what we are doing ourselves.
I apologise for mentioning the “C” word again….. but with all the above please be aware that the Covid virus is still as prevalent as ever and we must take all sensible precautions. Please respect other people’s space and maintain hand washing, surface wiping and all other hygiene procedures. A Gung Ho approach is NOT acceptable under any circumstances.
Hope to see you on Saturday.
