Just a very big Thank You to all those involved in last Saturday’s Opening Event.
It was a huge effort put together so well by so many people and despite the weather, went off smoothly.
I will not name names as such as there must have been 20+ club members doing a multitude of jobs on the day. Plus, a lot of pre-planning and giving of time, goods and services.
It was great to showcase our facility to other clubs, members and prospective members. The feedback we have had from those that attended has been very positive and generous with their praise. What a great team effort once again. If you haven’t checked the website please do so, as Andrew’s speech is on there, in the members section, for those who could not be there. Lord Clinton gave a very memorable speech too and despite having severe visual impairment was able to be one of the first to fire a shot on the new range.
So now all the ranges are open and there for you to enjoy your target shooting.
You may have noticed some extra equipment in the 10m range. This is because we have had James Bevis training on his electronic target in preparation for the Tokyo Paralympics. He is very impressed with our new facility and says it’s the best he has come across in the country. He will be joining our club and will be a great asset as he has a wealth of knowledge which he is keen to pass on to up and coming shooters. Look out for him if we get any Paralympic coverage, he is doing prone 50m rifle and 10m air rifle.
We have some rather posh badges now, courtesy of Rob Boulton. Attendees at the opening event were given one to mark the occasion. If you were not there they can be bought for £2 or more if you are feeling generous. Don’t forget you can also purchase club shirts in purple with our embroidered badge. See Debbie Mackie or leave a note for her if you want a rugby shirt, polo shirt or a sweatshirt.
We also have some club leaflets which are available for passing to friends or those who you think might make good members. Thanks to Paddy for that.
A range officer duty list has been circulated by Shaun. Please let him know asap if there are any problems with it. If your duty falls on a date that is difficult for you then please try to find another member to swap with you in the first instance before getting back to Shaun. If you are unsure what the duty involves, come on any night and buddy up with the duty officer on that night to see what’s involved. Likewise, if it is your turn, then invite someone to be with you to help.
A further thank you to all those who have helped this week with inducting prospective new members and helping others who are further up the ladder towards membership. We have over 40 in the pipeline and will require as much help as possible from current members to help our new members. These people are going to be the future of our club.
So overall quite a milestone of a week in our Club’s History.
Well done to all those involved so far and good shooting to all our members both old and new.
