Dear fellow club member,

I hope this finds you well.

This is no April fool but it looks as though we can all go shooting again pretty soon.

As of Monday 29th March, organised shooting outdoors is permissible and indoors as of the 12th April.

At present our outdoor range is not in use due to the building works but it is hoped that will be re-commissioned once the ground is dry enough to take heavy machinery. In the meantime, we can shoot at Budleigh Farm (contact Bruce Harvey) and by kind invitation also at Budleigh Salterton (by booking in with Dave Lemon)

Our indoor range will be made Covid safe again by the 12th April and our booking system will open up 1 week prior to that. If you haven’t visited the club’s website recently, then please do as it will keep you up to date.

There will be plenty of shooting to be done if you would like. Locally there is the Exeter and District shoot run by Chris Burrow which covers Prone Rifle, LSR, Pistol and Benchrest. The first 5 rounds of  Devon winter league can be finished off as they have reduced the course to 5 rounds rather than 10.

The club members in the building group have had a “relaxing” month whilst Richard’s builders have had the site to themselves. The New Build has progressed and should now be watertight with the remaining panels fitted and the join between the buildings completed. There are still trims to be fitted and doorways to be finished. The concrete slab between the old and new buildings has been laid. The structure to complete that area will be undertaken when we have the necessary funds.

At present we are putting the alarm system in, putting the second armoury door on, finishing the 10m range and making sure the necessary signage is in place.

Before we can use the new building, it will have to be signed off by building control and the live ranges will have to be passed safe by the authorities, so as has been the pattern, the wheels will grind ever onward, but we are almost there.

I hope you will all have a good Easter weekend and not consume too much chocolate!!

Best wishes

Mike
