LIGHTWEIGHT SPORT RIFLE AND AIRGUN SECTION

There is a thriving section shooting .22 Lightweight Sport Rifle (LSR) and match air pistol and rifle. Our range of match quality rifles and air pistols allow newcomers to quickly reach team standard.

The range is fitted with turning targets which are popular for timed and rapid fire disciplines.

LSR on the Pinhoe range

NSRA (National Smallbore Shooting Association) rules for LSR specify .22 rifles under 4.5kg weight and with a minimum trigger pull of 0.5kg. These are shot standing and there is a ‘no specialist clothing’ rule which is attractive to many who wish to keep their kit to a minimum.

Most members join in the regular competitions either postal or shoulder to shoulder.  More occasional shooters are also most welcome.

There is an open LSR competition in January with 160 precision and timed fire shots on a wide variety of targets. This is proving to be a highly popular event and early entry is essential to secure a place.
